SSA Section 73 — Death benefits: non-work death
Social Security Act (พระราชบัญญัติประกันสังคม) — Section 73.
Plain-English Summary
Section 73 applies where the insured person dies of a cause not related to work. Eligibility requires contributions paid for at least one month within the six months before death. The funeral grant is at the rate set by ministerial regulation but not less than 100 times the highest daily minimum wage under the labour-protection law. The death grant is 50% of the monthly wage computed under Section 57 multiplied by four where contributions were paid for 36 months or more but under 120 months, and multiplied by 12 where paid for 120 months or more; it goes to the person the insured named, otherwise equally to the spouse, parents or children.

Social Security Act
พระราชบัญญัติประกันสังคม · B.E. 2533 (1990)
The Social Security Act B.E. 2533 (1990) established the Social Security Fund within the Social Security Office (Section 21). The Fund pays benefits to insured persons for illness or injury, childbirth, invalidity, death, child allowance, old age and unemployment (Section 54). Employees aged 15 to 60 are insured compulsorily (Section 33), and former employees and other persons may join voluntarily (Sections 39 and 40). For compulsory insureds the Government, employers and insured persons contribute (Section 46); voluntary Section 39 insureds pay with the Government at a ratio of two parts to one, and the Government's share for Section 40 insureds is capped at half of what they pay. The contribution rates, the wage base and most benefit amounts are set by ministerial regulation or Royal Decree, not in the body of the Act; the Act's annex fixes only maximum contribution rates.
