    TM.47 — 90-Day Notification of Residence

Free if filed on time. THB 2,000 fine if late (waived in limited circumstances).

    When Used

Any foreigner physically present in Thailand for more than 90 consecutive days on a Non-Immigrant visa, retirement extension, marriage extension, education extension, or other long-stay permission must file TM.47 every 90 days. The clock resets each time the foreigner leaves and re-enters the country. The filing window opens 15 days before the 90-day deadline and closes 7 days after; filing outside this window (early or late) triggers a fine and may require in-person presentation. Tourist-visa visitors and visa-exempt entrants are not subject to TM.47.

    Who Files

The foreigner personally, or an authorised representative with a power of attorney. The house master does not file TM.47 (that is TM.30).

    Fee & Logistics

    Fee

Free if filed on time. THB 2,000 fine if late (waived in limited circumstances).

    Processing Time

Same day for in-person or online; postal filings should be sent at least 15 days before the deadline.

    Where Filed

Online via the Immigration Bureau e-Service portal (extranet.immigration.go.th); in person at the local Immigration office having jurisdiction over the foreigner's address; by registered post to the local Immigration office.

    Filing Method

    • Online via extranet.immigration.go.th
    • Mobile app (TM.47)
    • In-person at the local Immigration office
    • By registered post

    Required Documents

    • Passport (original required in person; clear copy of photo page and current visa stamp for online/post)
    • Departure card / TDAC record
    • Previous TM.47 receipt (slip stapled into passport)
    • TM.30 receipt for the current address
    • Completed TM.47 form signed by the foreigner

    Field-by-Field Walkthrough

    Personal Details

    (ข้อมูลส่วนตัว)
    Required

Full name as in passport, nationality, date of birth, passport number, place of birth.

    Visa Class and Permission-to-Stay Expiry

    (ประเภทการตรวจลงตรา)
    Required

Visa category (Non-Immigrant 'O', 'B', 'ED', etc.) and the 'admitted until' date.

    Current Address in Thailand

    (ที่อยู่ปัจจุบัน)
    Required

The exact address where the foreigner is currently residing — must match the TM.30 on file. A mismatch will cause rejection.

Last Date of Entry to Thailand

    (วันที่เดินทางเข้าประเทศ)
    Required

The date stamped on the most recent entry stamp. The 90-day count restarts on this date if the foreigner left and re-entered.

    Date of Previous 90-Day Notification

    Optional

The date the previous TM.47 was filed (from the slip in the passport). Leave blank if this is the first filing after a fresh entry.

    Contact Details

    Required

Thai mobile number, email address, and (for online filings) the device on which the account was registered.

    Common Mistakes

    • Filing outside the 15-day-early to 7-day-late window and incurring the THB 2,000 fine.
    • Failing to update the address when moved — the TM.47 must match the TM.30 currently on file.
    • Trying to file online when a fresh re-entry has reset the count (online portal often rejects the first filing after re-entry; must be done in person).
    • Losing the previous TM.47 slip — Immigration may treat this as a missing record and require in-person presentation.

    Penalty for Non-Compliance

Fine of up to THB 5,000 (Section 76); routinely THB 2,000 for late filing. Repeated failures may impact future visa extensions and re-entry permissions.

This walkthrough summarises the practical filing requirements for a Thai government form as a starting point. Fees, procedures, and required documents change without notice — always verify with the issuing authority before filing. Educational use only; not a substitute for advice from a Thai-qualified lawyer, accountant, or licensed visa agent.
