Land Traffic Act Section 78 — Duty after an accident
Land Traffic Act (พระราชบัญญัติจราจรทางบก) — Section 78.
Plain-English Summary
A driver involved in an accident causing injury or property damage — whether at fault or not — must stop, give reasonable assistance, identify themselves and report to the nearest police immediately, and give their name, address and vehicle registration to the injured party. Fleeing raises a presumption of guilt and allows seizure of the vehicle, which may be forfeited to the State if the owner does not come forward within six months.

Land Traffic Act
พระราชบัญญัติจราจรทางบก · B.E. 2522 (1979)
The Land Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979) is Thailand's principal road-traffic statute, placed under the Prime Minister and enforced by the Royal Thai Police. It sets the rules of the road — lane discipline, right of way, overtaking, turning, parking, and traffic signals and signs — together with safety duties such as helmets and seat belts and prohibitions on reckless, drink- and drug-driving, street racing and hand-held mobile-phone use. The Act delegates the detailed figures — speed limits, the blood-alcohol threshold, and helmet and seat-belt specifications — to ministerial regulations and National Police Chief notifications, so those numbers are not found in the Act itself. Driving-licence issuance is governed not by this Act but by the Motor Vehicle Act B.E. 2522 (and, for professional drivers, the Land Transport Act).
The summary above is a plain-English educational paraphrase of Section 78 of the Land Traffic Act. It is not an authoritative translation.
