Geographical Indication Protection Act

The Geographical Indication Protection Act B.E. 2546 (2003) protects names identifying a product's geographical origin where origin gives the product specific quality, reputation, or characteristic. The Department of Intellectual Property registers Thai and foreign GIs. Thailand has over 130 registered GIs including Doi Tung Coffee and Sangyod Phatthalung Rice.
