    Right to accurate product information

    Legal Basis: Consumer Protection Act B.E. 2522 (1979), Section 22

    What To Do: Products must be labeled accurately. Misleading descriptions are grounds for complaint and refund.

    7-day cooling-off period for direct sales

    Legal Basis: Direct Sales and Direct Marketing Act B.E. 2545 (2002), Section 36

    What To Do: You can cancel direct sales (door-to-door, timeshare presentations) within 7 days without penalty.

    Right to safe products

    Legal Basis: Consumer Protection Act B.E. 2522 (1979), Sections 29-30

    What To Do: Manufacturers are liable for unsafe products. Keep receipts and evidence of any injuries.

    Right to file a consumer complaint

    Legal Basis: Consumer Protection Act B.E. 2522 (1979), Section 20

    What To Do: File complaints with the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) by calling 1166.

    Right to class action lawsuits

    Legal Basis: Consumer Case Procedure Act B.E. 2551 (2008)

    What To Do: Consumers can join class action suits for widespread product/service issues.

    Right to fair contract terms

    Legal Basis: Unfair Contract Terms Act B.E. 2540 (1997)

    What To Do: Unconscionable contract terms can be voided by the court.

    Common Myths vs Reality

    Myth: Thailand has no consumer protection laws

    Reality: Thailand has comprehensive consumer protection legislation comparable to many developed countries.

    Myth: Foreigners can't file consumer complaints

    Reality: The OCPB accepts complaints from anyone, including tourists and foreign residents.

    Myth: No refunds or returns in Thailand

    Reality: Direct sales have a mandatory 7-day cooling-off period. Defective products can be returned under warranty.
