Fake Remote-Work / DTV Qualification Platforms

Scam platforms offer to 'create' the remote-work portfolio, contracts, or employer letters needed to qualify for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), Smart Visa, or LTR visa — then either disappear with fees or supply forged documents that lead to blacklisting.

    critical risk
Target: Aspiring digital nomads who do not yet meet the DTV's remote-employment or freelance-income requirements; would-be Smart Visa / LTR applicants
Estimated losses: USD 500 – 5,000 per applicant, plus the cost of blacklisting (often 5–10 years of unwound life plans) • Prevalence: Rapidly growing since DTV launch in 2024

    How It Works

    1

Scam site advertises 'DTV qualification packages' for USD 500–3,000 (THB 17,000–100,000)

    2

Offers fake remote-employment contracts, fake employer letters on cloned letterheads, fake bank-balance certificates, fake portfolio websites

    3

Some variants 'hire' applicants as fake employees of a shell company they control

    4

Documents are submitted with the visa application — and increasingly detected by the Thai e-Visa system's enhanced fraud screening

    5

Result: visa refusal, lifetime entry blacklist, and potential criminal exposure under Section 264/267 of the Penal Code (forgery) and Section 64 of the Immigration Act

    6

Where granted in error, subsequent fraud detection leads to revocation and deportation

    Warning Signs

'Guaranteed' DTV approval regardless of your actual circumstances

Offering to 'create' employer letters, bank statements, or contracts

Operates only via Telegram or encrypted chat, no verifiable office

Demands full payment upfront, often in crypto

Reviews are all 5-star and posted within a short period (paid review farm)

Pressure to apply 'before the rules change'

    What To Do

Apply for the DTV / Smart Visa / LTR only with documentation that is genuinely true
If your remote income is real but documentation is messy, hire a licensed Thai law firm to organise it — not a 'qualification service'
Verify any 'agency' against the Lawyers Council of Thailand and the Department of Business Development (DBD)
Never sign or submit a document you have not personally read and verified as truthful
If you have already used such a service and the visa was granted, take qualified counsel BEFORE next entry — voluntary disclosure may be possible

Department of Consular Affairs (e-Visa fraud): +66 2-572-8442
