Overview
Thailand has some of the strictest drug laws in Southeast Asia. Narcotics are classified into 5 categories, with Category 1 (heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA) carrying the most severe penalties including life imprisonment and the death penalty for trafficking. Foreigners convicted of drug offences face imprisonment followed by deportation and permanent blacklisting.
