Right to be free from harassment
Legal Basis: Debt Collection Act (pending) and Criminal Code provisions against harassment
What To Do: Debt collectors cannot threaten, intimidate, or contact you at unreasonable hours. Report harassment to police.
Right to dispute the debt
Legal Basis: Civil and Commercial Code
What To Do: You can formally dispute the amount owed. Request written proof of the debt and calculation.
Right to negotiate repayment terms

What To Do: Creditors often prefer negotiated repayment over costly litigation. Propose a realistic payment plan.
Right to bankruptcy protection
