Document Checklist
Passport valid for at least 6 months
Must have at least 2 blank pages for visa stamp
Completed DTV application form
Download from Thai embassy website or apply via e-Visa portal
Recent passport-sized photos (4x6 cm)
White background, taken within last 6 months
Proof of remote employment or freelance work
Employment contract, client contracts, or company registration showing remote work arrangement
Proof of income (minimum THB 500,000/year or equivalent)
Bank statements, tax returns, or pay slips for the last 6 months
Health insurance covering Thailand
Minimum coverage of USD 50,000. Must cover COVID-19 treatment.
Proof of accommodation in Thailand
Hotel booking, rental agreement, or invitation letter from host
Criminal background check
From your home country, issued within last 6 months, apostilled or legalized
Flight itinerary
Showing entry to Thailand within visa validity period
Proof of digital nomad community membership (if applicable)
Membership in recognized co-working space, digital nomad organization, or tech community
Company letter confirming remote work permission
If employed, letter from employer authorizing remote work from Thailand
Visa application fee
Typically THB 10,000 (varies by embassy). Check current fee before applying.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Applying at the wrong embassy — you must apply at the Thai embassy in your country of residence or nationality.
Insufficient proof of income — bank statements should clearly show regular income deposits.
Health insurance not covering Thailand specifically — generic 'worldwide' policies may be rejected.
Not getting criminal background check apostilled — some embassies require this.
Confusing DTV with tourist visa — DTV has different requirements and allows longer stays.
Helpful Tips
Apply through the e-Visa portal for faster processing in most countries.
DTV is valid for 180 days and can be extended once for another 180 days at Thai immigration.
You do NOT need a work permit with DTV — the visa covers remote work for non-Thai employers.
