Document Checklist
Determine your residency status for Thai tax purposes
If you spend 180+ days in Thailand in a tax year, you are a Thai tax resident and must declare worldwide income including crypto gains.
Use only SEC-licensed digital asset exchanges in Thailand
Licensed exchanges: Bitkub, Satang, Upbit Thailand. Check SEC website for current list.
Keep detailed records of all crypto transactions
Record date, asset, amount, THB value at time of transaction for every buy, sell, swap, and receipt.
Calculate capital gains for each disposal of crypto assets
Thai tax treats crypto disposals (sales, swaps, using crypto to pay) as taxable events.
Include crypto gains in Thai personal income tax return (PND 90/91)
File by March 31 each year for the prior calendar year.
Notify the SEC if providing digital asset services to Thai customers
Operating an exchange, broker, or dealer without an SEC license is criminal. Up to 5 years imprisonment.
Consult a Thai tax accountant for complex DeFi/NFT/mining income
DeFi yield farming, NFT royalties, and mining income have specific tax treatment.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Assuming crypto income is anonymous and won't be detected — Thai exchanges report to the Revenue Department.
Not keeping transaction records — reconstructing them later for tax purposes is very difficult.
Forgetting that crypto-to-crypto swaps are taxable events in Thailand.
Not declaring income from crypto staking, airdrops, or DeFi yields.
Helpful Tips
Use crypto tax software (Koinly, CoinTracker) to automatically import transactions and calculate Thai tax.
Keep records for at least 5 years — the Revenue Department's audit window.
File your tax return on time — late filing penalties can double your compliance costs.
